PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances were developed for their exceptional ability to resist heat, water, and oil, and they are well-known for applications such as non-stick cookware, waterproofing and stain resistance in carpet, fabrics and textiles, and for use in firefighting foams. Unfortunately, there are also environmental, and health risks associated with PFAS. They have been linked to various health issues such as liver damage, thyroid disease, decreased fertility, high cholesterol, obesity, hormone suppression, and cancer. These chemicals accumulate in the human body and environment over time, posing long-term health risks. Contamination in ground water has led to increased regulation and voluntary phase-out of certain PFAS compounds. Consequently, the demand for PFAS testing has expanded rapidly due to stricter regulations, heightened public awareness, and the growing need for safe drinking water and environmental concerns.
